Earthenware plate for holding a jam jar is square with rounded corners. The plate is covered with green, yellow, blue, and maroon floral designs on a white background. The edges of the plate are gold. The back of the plate is white with purple, green and gold text, displaying "Summertime / ROYAL WINTON / GRIMWADES / ENGLAND / 775 / 1-1." The plate dates from around 1930. Mary Eloise Green of Columbus, Ohio, donated this jam jar underplate in 1999. The donor purchased the item in Canada.
