Description
The thumbnail image is of a broad and thin ground stone axe with a wide, deep groove near the poll end that extends all the way around; this functioned to attach the axe head to a handle. The groove is bordered by ridges. The poll end is flattened with rounded corners while the blade is short and tapers slightly to wide cutting edge. It is made of igneous rock that is black and pale yellow in color. Found in Scioto County, Ohio.
