THE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF THE MORMON CHURCH has micro-

filmed all military records of the division of soldiers' claims of the Ohio

adjutant general's office. The microfilmed records include grave regis-

tration data on Ohio veterans of all wars in which Ohioans partici-

pated, rosters of Ohio soldiers in these wars and indexes to the

rosters, original (hand-written) muster rolls of the Ohio units in the

Civil War, records of payment to "Squirrel Hunters," rosters of Ohio

National Guard organizations, 1875-1903, and World War I service

record cards.

The microfilm may be viewed in the office of the division of soldiers'

claims in the State House, and copies may be purchased at $5.00 a

100-foot reel from Mr. Harold Jacobsen, Coordinator, Microfilm Divi-

sion, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 80 North Main,

Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

Richmond D. Williams, formerly director of the Wyoming Historical

and Geological Society in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, has been named

assistant director of the American Association for State and Local His-

tory, which has its central office in Madison, Wisconsin. Dr. Williams

assumed his new post on May 1.

 

The Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion is offering

a research fellowship in American Jewish history to a qualified graduate

student who wishes to pursue a three-year program of study leading to

the Ph.D. degree in American Jewish history. The fellowship carries

an annual stipend of three thousand dollars. Inquiries should be ad-

Cincinnati 20, Ohio.

 

The Franklin County Historical Society has begun publication of a

four-page, illustrated History News Letter. The News Letter will be

published in March, May, August, and November. The society also

publishes Landmarks, a new quarterly magazine devoted principally

to historical articles on Franklin County.
