Fishing

Fish were caught with bone hooks attached to lines or in nets, weirs, or traps. Tribes of the historic period in the Southeastern United States sometimes poisoned fish with the roots of the "devil's shoestring" plant. This method was especially useful in the late summer when the rivers were low.
