8.2 Sandusky People

Section Eight-C: Sandusky Culture

Until the mid-1970s, little was known about the Late Prehistoric cultures that lived in the river valleys at the western end of Lake Erie. Since then, archaeologists working there have found the remnants of a culture that they call Sandusky. Like the Whittlesey and Fort Ancient cultures, the Sandusky people seem to be a Late Woodland group influenced by Mississippian Culture.
