The thumbnail image is of a handle, possibly for an atlatl or spear thrower. It is made from a section of deer antler that includes a portion of the antler's base. The main portion of the artifact is cylindrical with a hole drilled in it to accommodate the atlatl shaft. The basal section of the antler is carved in a decorative fan shape. The antler is light gray and dark yellowish brown and has a smooth, polished finish.
