Beery of Fremont had obtained several recruits, but was desirous to know whether he was to receive an appointment as 1st Lieutenant before doing more, that he desired to know whether he was right regarding the instructions, that he was now fully satisfied that he could raise a company, that he very much desired that Captain Langworthy, late of the 49th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, should be given the command of a regiment and that his company should be assigned to the same regiment, and that Langworthy was without a doubt the best military man of his regiment.
