Charles Anderson, Colonel, 93rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Headquarters, Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. To Adjutant General Charles W. Hill. Letter stating that there seemed to be a misapprehension in the matter of the appointments for the 93rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry and his involvement with them, that since the order empowering and commanding the military boards of the respective committees of the district to make those nominations and the telegram directing them to meet in a convention for said purpose, he had taken no action whatsoever in the matter, that in order to avoid the danger of conflicts, either of commission or feeling, amongst the rival appointees, he addressed a letter to Hill's department begging leave to withdraw a list of nominations which he had already made in pursuance of verbal authority from the Governor, that he approved the general order devolving the nominating duty upon the military boards, and that in his case, such power of appointment would have been an empty authority because his ignorance of the persons in the district would have compelled him, in the short time allowed, to take the advice of the military boards.
